(Birth Musicians Earn Top Honors in Japanese Classical Music) – Japanese-born musician, who is now Dame Mitsuko Uchida 63-year-old was awarded the highest honors in classical music.

Dame moved from his native land to Vienna at the age of 12 years with his father a diplomat. He later studied at the Vienna Music Academy.

His first musical performance was when he was 14 years old at the Vienna Musikverein. He was dubbed as a translator of classic works, such as Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Debussy and Schoenberg.

Some music awards she has received, including degree of Doctor of Music (DMus) awarded by the University of Oxford in 2009.
